FBC Winona News & Updates 9-5-17

September 5, 2017

“Behold, God is my salvation;
    I will trust, and will not be afraid;
for the Lord God is my strength and my song,
    and he has become my salvation.” – Isaiah 12:2

Church Family,

Let us make this verse our motivation today. God IS our salvation, we WILL trust and will NOT be afraid. The Lord God IS our strength AND our song. He is shaping us and molding us in His image. May we let Him direct us through His Word and by the Holy Spirit today.

TOMORROW begins a new year for our Wednesday night ministries. We have something for ALL ages, beginning at 6:30 pm. For ages 3-Kindergarten we have Mission Friends. For Girls grades 1-6 we have Girls in Action (GA’s). For Boys grades 1-6 we have Royal Ambassadors (RA’s), for youth we have Youth Worship and for adults we have WOW (Worship on Wednesdays).

For adults, we will continue some of the elements that made WOW so special this summer and start a brand new Bible Study. We will begin a study called “What to do When You Don’t Know What to Do”, based on a book by the same name, written by David Jeremiah and some other resources. It will walk through the book of James and we will apply this to our life today. I believe it’s going to be powerful.

Our new college/career ministry is off to an awesome start and they have made it a mission to not only be students of the Word but to be hands on in ministry as well. They have taken on as a project to do some needed remodeling/repairing in the youth area in preparation for our new Minister of Students and have been working hard at it.

Speaking of new Minister of Students, the Minister of Students Search Committee is bringing a unanimous recommendation to present Cody Fitzgerald in view of a call on Sunday, September 17th to be our news permanent, part-time Minister of Students. He and his wife Christian have a new baby and are a delightful couple with a tremendous heart for students and the church as a whole. Make sure you are here to meet them. He will share his testimony in the morning service on September 17th and then we will have a Q&A session that evening followed by our Church Conference, during which time we will vote to extend the call.

TRUNK OR TREAT – Our Children’s/Preschool workers have discussed it and elected to change our Pumpkin Patch theme this year to a “Trunk or Treat”. In addition, we will be having this at Winona High School and are inviting other churches to participate. We will have a meeting this Sunday at 3:30 pm to do some planning and are inviting those churches to join us. ANYONE interested in possibly hosting a booth, helping with preparation or working in any way for this event  should attend this meeting.

Have a blessed week and I hope to see you all tomorrow in The House!

Bro. Tony
